Daily Chores

The pool surface should be cleaned with a leaf skimmer to remove any airborne debris on a daily basis. Otherwise, debris will become saturated with water, sink to the bottom, and thus become difficult to remove.

Surface debris also finds its way into the surface skimmer outlets. Surface skimmer baskets must be cleaned daily as well, or the pool's circulation and filtration systems will become impaired.

All chemical levels in the pool should be tested on a daily basis, most particularly chlorine and pH. If the pool is going to be filled with many swimmers, plan on testing the water several times a day.

The pool should also be brushed for a few minutes every day. This will reduce weekly vacuuming time and prevent algae from growing on the pool shell. Always brush toward the main drain, and try to brush in the early hours of the morning after all the debris has settled to the bottom. The best-kept pool shells are usually brushed regularly.
