Other Disinfectants

Although chlorine is the most popular pool disinfectant and bromine is the most popular spa disinfectant, numerous other disinfectants are available that work well, too. Many of these disinfectants are becoming popular because some people would like to avoid the hazards and disadvantages of chlorine, or are interested in trying a different disinfectant. Although alternative disinfectants do not have the same hazards and disadvantages of chlorine, they m ay not disinfect or oxidize as well, either. If Chlorine or bromine are not wished to be used, some of the more popular alternatives are ozone, ionization, ultraviolet light, poymeric biquanide, and chlorine generation.
